I have two movies to share about that I’ve recently watched.
On the Basis of Sex
Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s journey beginning at when she entered Harvard Law School.
Felicity Jones plays RGB and Armie Hammer plays her husband Marty starting when they are attending Harvard Law School. I didn’t realize that Marty was diagnosed with cancer and RGB actually attended both her and his classes while he was being treated. Oh, and she also was raising her young daughter at the same time.
Overcoming obstacles and bias she still managed to graduate at the top of her class.
Jones is great as RGB and Hammer’s acting wasn’t as annoying to me as usual. Watch for RGB’s cameo.
The story is interesting and eye opening and worth the watch.
A Star is Born
I didn’t think I was going to like this but I did.
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are compelling in Cooper’s directorial debut. Other players like Sam Elliott and Andrew Dice Clay are awesome additions to this cast.
On the Special Features of the DVD, Cooper mentions having worked with director Clint Eastwood who he gives credit for much of what he learned about directing. (They worked together on American Sniper.)
Side note, I’ve heard frequently that actors love being on Eastwood’s set as he creates a calm and collaborative environment for his actors. Eastwood doesn’t even say, “action”, he simply says, “whenever you’re ready.”
Gaga and Cooper are surprisingly lovely together in this well-known cinematic story.
